KUALA LUMPUR - Action has been taken against the Barisan Nasional MPs who were absent during a surprise bloc vote to pass Budget 2018 allocations for a ministry, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).
Two days ago, Barisan won the bloc vote on allocations to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry by a razor-thin one vote difference with 52 MPs voting for and 51 against.
"I have taken action, I have already advised them (absent MPs) that they should be more serious about attending the sessions.
"Some domestic action has been taken, of course, against the absent MPs,” Ahmad Zahid told reporters after launching the Halal Malaysia humanitarian mission for Rohingya refugees in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 22).
Last month, Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said had to announce a 10-minute postponement of proceedings when no ministers or deputy ministers were around to second a motion to table the Intellectual Property Corporation Malaysia (Amendment) Bill 2017.
