KUALA LUMPUR - Who exactly will be Pakatan Harapan’s nominee as the Prime Minister, if the opposition pact wins the 14th General Election (GE14) ?
Utusan Malaysia reported that this is the question which has cropped up now, after the four parties making up the opposition pact failed to reach a consensus on the matter.
The tussle for the Prime Minister’s post has seen the opposition pact in their eagerness to bring down Barisan Nasional in GE14, being placed on the verge of a turmoil said the Malay daily today.
However, the daily said that it was made to understand that at the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council meeting held on Thursday evening, three members of the pact - DAP, Parti Amanah Negara and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia had backed for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be nominated as Pakatan’s Prime Ministerial candidate.
This move, however, was opposed by the PKR, it said.
Utusan adds that the failure of the pact’s four members to reach a consensus on the matter had led to them to cancel naming their Prime Ministerial candidate nominee at its day long convention to be held in Shah Alam on Saturday.
The matter was also confirmed by Dr Mahathir, the Pakatan Harapan
