KUALA LUMPUR - The PAS central committee is holding a meeting to discuss the deepening political crisis in Selangor.

The closed door meeting began at 10.30am Thursday at the party's headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut.

In the absence of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who is recovering from heart surgery, it was left to deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man to chair the meeting.

The meeting will centre on the fate of three Selangor PAS lawmakers who were asked to resign from their positions in the state exco.

Among those seen entering the building was PAS Selangor state exco Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad.

Iskandar and two other excos, Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib, were asked by Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to resign from their posts following PAS Syura Council's decision last week to cut ties with PKR.

Matters took a twist when newly minted Selangor PAS state commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi threatened on Monday that 13 PAS reps may quit the state government if Azmin is adamant on forcing its three state exco members to resign.

PAS is scheduled to hold a press conference at 12.30pm later Thursday.
