SETIAWANGSA - Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has turned down PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s offer to contest the Gombak seat.
“I have already decided that I will contest in either Langkawi, Kubang Pasu or Putrajaya,” he said after the launch of Pribumi's Setiawangsa division on Sunday (Jan 14).
When asked if he appreciated Azmin’s gesture, Dr Mahathir said: “Yes. Thank you very much. But I have already decided.”
His comments comes after Azmin offered up his Gombak parliamentary seat to Dr Mahathir in the coming election.
Azmin had said that did this as a gesture to be "united for the sake of the rakyat", and he has held the seat for two terms by relatively slim margins.
