PUTRAJAYA - Two Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leaders have lodged a complaint with the Registrar of Societies, claiming that their party breached its constitution when it held its annual general meeting last year.
Youth leader Mohamed Khairol Faizal Mohd Nordin and Srikandi (women’s wing) leader Juliana Mansor of the Klang Pribumi division claimed neither the two wings nor the division had held their meetings prior to the AGM.
“We are disappointed because we have the law, but it was not adhered to,” said Mohamed Khairol after their meeting with RoS here yesterday.
“And it was (chairman) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself who had drafted the party constitution. So why wasn’t it followed?”
Both Mohamed Khairol and Juliana said their division and the respective Youth and Srikandi wings did not hold their meetings last year prior to the party’s AGM in December.
“The explanation we got earlier from the party leadership was that RoS had made a mistake,” Mohamed Khairol said.
“But when we checked the party constitution just now, we realised that it was actually the party which committed a violation. Why?”
Mohamed Khairol also said Pribumi should reconsider who should lead the party, saying that Pribumi and Pakatan Harapan had younger talents to lead the Opposition. Earlier reports had quoted RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim as saying that her office was still investigating the status of Pribumi’s AGM.
