PETALING JAYA - Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has condemned the bombings at churches in Tanta and Alexandria in Egypt on Sunday which killed dozens of worshipers.
"I am disgusted by the cowardly attacks on churches in Tanta and Alexandria.
"At this time of mourning, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost and the Egyptian people,” the Prime Minister said.
"These attacks are yet another reminder of the threat of violent extremism. We must never surrender, and each atrocity should deepen our resolve.
"Daesh's (Islamic State) intention is to divide us –Muslims, Christians and other faiths – but our strongest response is to come together and fight this nihilistic menace with a united front," he added.
It was reported that at least 44 people were killed in the attacks on two Egyptian Coptic churches on Palm Sunday.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
