KUALA LUMPUR - Women entrepreneurs are the ones who are cashing in the most in the nation's growing digital economy said the Prime Minister.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) said this was based from the successes achieved through the eUsahawan programme to train entrepreneurs to use social media and digital platforms to generate income.

"Between Jan 2016 and September 2017, some 92,926 youths and rural entrepreneurs participated in the eUsahawan training programme.

"Of this, 27,170 or 29% have reported increased sales totalling RM112mil where 95% of them were women entrepreneurs," he said when answering a question raised by Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (BN-Lenggong) during Minister's Question Time in Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Nov 9).

"Some 57,572 or 57% have succeeded in generating income totalling RM81mil," he noted.

Najib said the programmes were implemented by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to help guide youths, small businesses, rural folks, single mothers and housewives to benefit from the digital economy.
