Sarawak has given RM10.3 million in compensation to 235 families, whose land was acquired for the Pan Borneo Highway.
Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem hoped those who received the compensation would be thankful to the government, Malaysiakini reported.
Speaking after attending an event at Kampung Sorak Sumpang, 70km from Kuching, Adenan said this proved wrong the lies spread by the Opposition that the state government had acquired the land without giving out due compensation.
“Every time we give out land titles, the Opposition is not happy because it proves it has been lying all the time,” he said.
“And another lie has been uncovered today,” he said, referring to the compensation.
