Reject Culture Of Spreading False Information - Razali

KUALA LUMPUR - People have been urged to reject in total the culture of spreading false information, including efforts to topple the government through social media.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Razali Ibrahim said there should be a massive rejection among the people to symbolise that the spreading negative sentiment, false and unauthentic information to the public through social media was an action that cannot be accepted.

"One way to block (the use of social media) is by law enforcement, but it should be the last resort...right now, we can create a massive wave of rejection to such a culture," he told Bernama.

He said this after appearing as guest panel in Bernama Radio's talk show 'Langit Biru' which discussed the government's roles and challenges in inculcating the spirit of patriotism here today.

Razali also admitted that social media was among the biggest challenge for the government in inculcating the spirit of patriotism among the people.

As such, he said the government should act swiftly to ensure the spread of negative information would not trigger public anxiety, especially in issues related to religion and racial sensitivities.
