The Works Ministry Wants Penang State Government To Submit Documents For Proposed Third Bridge Project


The Works Ministry confirmed that the Penang state government has yet to submit documents or fixed any dates to meet the ministry regarding the third bridge project.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof in a statement today reiterated that his ministry was committed to a fair evaluation of the third bridge proposal that will link the Penang island to the mainland.

"We remind the Penang government to share with us all the relevant documents so that we are able to make an informed decision in the best interest of the rakyat," he said.

One major document would be the almost-completed RM305 million feasibility and detailed design studies commissioned and paid for by the Penang Government for the undersea tunnel project and associated linked roads.

It was revealed then, by the Penang Government had comfirmed that the feasibility and detailed design studies were 100% complete while the undersea tunnel feasibility studies was itself 83% completed.

Therefore it was important that the Penang administration submit these documents soonest possible to assist the ministry in the decision making and to allow more productive discussions in a professional manner.
