MELAKA - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has called on all members of the public to join hands with the commission to be their eyes and ears in combating corruption.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad urged the participation of everyone from all levels of society for the Friends of Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement (GERAH) programme, launched on Aug 1.

Speaking at the launch of the state-level 'Kembara Jelajah Anti Rasuah' campaign at the Portuguese Settlement here today, Dzulkifli said GERAH members play an invaluable role in assisting the commission.

"I urge everyone, including members of the Portuguese community here aged 18 and above, to immediately register themselves as Sahabat GERAH (Friends of GERAH).

"GERAH members serve as the eyes and ears of MACC by reporting any corruption activities to us, lending us their strength in corruption-prevention initiatives.

"They also act as a role models to the rest of the community," he said.

PETALING JAYA - Kedah's Sultan Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, has passed away at the age of 89.

He passed away at 2.30pm on Monday.

The Kedah ruler made history when he became Agong for the second time in 2012 after being installed for the first time in 1970.

Tuanku Abdul Halim ended his term as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong last December and was replaced by Kelantan ruler Sultan Muhammad V.
