KOTA BAHARU : The Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) has obtained permission from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to register red and pink as the home jersey colours for the Pamoga Qu Puteh The Red Warriors (PQPTRW) squad for the Malaysia League this season.
Kafa president Tan Sri Annuar Musa said white and pink would be the away jersey colours for PQPTRW.
"There is no issue on the colours for the first, second and third jersey. Many people don't understand the regulations on this.
"For example, we register red and pink for the colours of our jersey when playing on home ground so that the opponents know what colours we will be wearing," he told reporters after a friendly match between Kelantan and Yala FC at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here last night.
He said there are certain matters that cannot be changed in football regulations to avoid confusion, like the logo and fixed name for the team, which is Kelantan.
Annuar was commenting on a newspaper report on Kafa honorary adviser and main sponsor for the team, Datuk Seri Dr Hasmiza Othman, also known as Dr Vida, wanting pink and white as the main colours for PQPTRW.
The issue surfaced after Kafa announced that red would be the home colour and the away colour would be white.
On a request by Dr Vida, who is the founder of Vida Beauty Sdn Bhd, to be appointed executive manager for PQPTRW this season, Annuar said Kafa would explain to her on regulations in football associations.
"For someone to be a manager, the person has to meet certain criteria and eligibility. A manager has to be present not only at matches, but also during training," he added.
On renovations for the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, he said work would begin today with focus on cleaning and painting the inner section of the stadium pink.
"It has to be ready by March 13 when the Malaysia League begins," he added.
